Canada's Justice System
In this unit we are going to look at a variety of ways in which Canada tries to address the needs of her people. We will explore how the Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects both individual rights and collective rights in Canada. We will also investigate the various ways in which societies work to make the country safe from crime, specifically how the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) works to provide justice in the cases of crimes committed by youth. The perspectives of Francophones, Aboriginal peoples and immigrants will help us to understand the various ways in which rights can and should be protected.
